Underwater photography opportunities can provide some incredible images of wildlife. Below is information about 3 of our popular reef and boat wreck sites that provide incredible sea life to film including sharks, stingrays, moray eels and thousands of fish.
Below is a brief description of the most popular locations:
Settlement Point West was chosen as the site to place 5 Coral Domes by the staff of Perry Institute for Marine Science (PIMS) with Staghorn corals to establish another specie growth among the abundant Elkhorn coral that dominate the area.
Nirvana Reef I is just as it is described - total snorkel heaven - an abundance of coral specie can be found from Elkhorn, colourful Fan Corals, Brain Coral and numerous species of fish and sea life that inhabit this pristine area. A variety of sea life may be seen including moray eels, sea turtles, eagle rays, lobsters and reef cleaning fish.
The Boat Wreck is one of the most requested spots to snorkel as the boat rests in less that 6 feet of water. The wreck is covered with coral and teeming with thousands of fish. This idyllic spot is a broken boat wreck approximately 50 feet in length. Occasionally, huge Loggerhead sea turtles, sleeping Nurse Sharks, and Lionfish are discovered on the site, Maybe you can spot the 6 foot Moray Eel and spotted eels that reside inside the wreck.
If you are planning a trip to Grand Bahama we welcome the opportunity to introduce you to our marine life and delighted to educate you about our snorkel hot spots near West End.
West End Ecology Tours welcome the opportunity to share with you our natural world underwater.
